Balancing Act: A Day in the Life of a Small-Town Online Boutique Owner, Stylist, Mom, and Lineman's Wife - Risen Rose

Balancing Act: A Day in the Life of a Small-Town Online Boutique Owner, Stylist, Mom, and Lineman's Wife

Life can be a juggling act, and for those who wear multiple hats, it can sometimes feel like a never-ending cycle. Today, we're going to take a closer look at what a typical day is like being someone who, somedays, successfully manages to combine the roles of a small-town online boutique owner, a stylist & lash artist at a local salon, a devoted mom of two, and a loving lineman’s wife. This is the story of resilience, time management, a lot of love, and surely a lot of grace!

Morning Rush and Mom Duties

My days typically begin early, before the sun’s first rays peek over the horizon. In Maine, the sun rises around 7am currently. So, we are rising before the sun's beautiful rays peek out. YIKES! The transition from summer months to winter months can be challenging when it comes to waking littles. With perseverance and the good Lords grace, we do it! Lots of snuggles, breakfast underway and finally getting ready for the day! It’s a whirlwind of activities but there’s no shortage of love and laughter in this household.

Salon Stylist at Heart

After sending the kids off to daycare during my work days, it’s time to transition into the role of a stylist. Creativity flows as each new clients sits in my chair wanting their own specific color or lash set. Clients come and go, each with their unique style, and the day is filled with blonding, styling, many lash sets and lively conversations. It’s a job that requires not only technical skill but also an understanding of people’s individual preferences. Sometimes clients don't know what looks best on them and that's where our individually crafted skills as stylists come into play. We work our ✨magic✨ to make our clients feel and look beautiful!

Boutique Business in the Midst

During lunch breaks and any downtime at the salon, I multitask by managing my boutique’s online presence. This involves updating the website, engaging with customers on social media, and planning out more content. It’s a constant hustle that requires meticulous organization and a deep passion for the boutique business.

Homemaker Extraordinaire

After a busy day at the salon, it’s back to mom mode. Picking up the kids from daycare, getting the kids settled and preparing dinner are all part of the daily routine. No matter how jam packed my schedule may get, I always strive to give my kids a loving and nurturing environment. The biggest struggle lately has been learning to keep up with the never ending cycle of laundry in between all the lovely chaos.

Lineman’s Wife: Support and Love

Being the wife of a lineman comes with its unique challenges. It often involves being prepared for unexpected situations when my husband is called in to work, even in the middle of the night. Storm season as a lineman family can get hectic as we sometimes go days without seeing "Dada" (a.k.a. my husband). We learn to spend every sparing moment together, even when it's just 15 minutes before the next call comes in. Some may think this is crazy with littles, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't at times. But, because we know "Dada" will be coming back home to us, we strive forward and give lots of hugs and kisses!

Balancing It All with Grace

While the day of a small-town online boutique owner, stylist, mom, and lineman’s wife may seem overwhelming to many, it’s a life of fulfillment and love. The key to how I do it all is a well-organized schedule, time management, and a deep love for all the roles at play. Family and friends are key for giving you a helping hand when needed and always there to hold you accountable.
